I’m retiring. I’m moving away from the business, from the company, from all this kind of stuff.
Shockingly enough, that is the above statement from the 67-year-old legendary director George Lucas has announced his retirement after he grows very tired of making Hollywood blockbusters since STAR WARS back in 1977. It is noted that Lucas's last blockbuster will be the upcoming WWII drama RED TAILS (due in U.S. on January 20).
So what will he do next instead? Apparently Lucas is opted to go the Francis Ford Coppola way (another legendary director who helmed THE GODFATHER trilogy), and makes small-scaled projects. Seriously?
If it's true that Lucas quits blockbuster altogether, chances for us to see the long-gestating INDIANA JONES 5 getting off the ground is growing slim. Then again, anything can happen in Hollywood.
