In three days' time, Christopher Nolan's highly-anticipated THE DARK KNIGHT RISES will finally hit theaters worldwide. Since this epic blockbuster is confirmed to be Nolan's final take in the Batman saga, it's natural that (everyone) are expecting him to pull out all the stops and gives his very best here. Well, here's 6 things we certainly like to see him pull off in THE DARK KNIGHT RISES.
1. NOT REPEATING THE SAME FORMULA FROM "THE DARK KNIGHT"
Three years ago, Christopher Nolan had certainly raised the bar for a comic-book movie genre in THE DARK KNIGHT, which was widely regarded as the best of its kind ever made. Now here lies the ultimate question: HOW CAN NOLAN ABLE TO TOP "THE DARK KNIGHT"? It's inevitable that this third installment will be bigger in scale, but we sure hope he can push himself further in term of narrative thrust and delivers the kind of epic entertainment that able to turn THE DARK KNIGHT RISES as fresh as possible without that ironic sense of deja vu experience.
2. TOM HARDY MUST NAILS HIS ROLE AS BANE
Okay, maybe the word "must" is like expecting way too much. But given the fact that this will be Nolan's final take on the Batman saga, it's easy to see why. First of all, it's odd to see such a well-known property ends the highly-lucrative franchise with a character that isn't particularly popular with the mainstream viewers. And yet Nolan had gamely putting among the least-popular character like Bane in THE DARK KNIGHT RISES. So it's natural to expect those people who have watched THE DARK KNIGHT will compare him over the late Heath Ledger's impeccable performance as the Joker. For now, Tom Hardy does certainly looks intimidating as the hulking Bane in various trailers and clips shown so far. And here, we sure hope that Nolan can silenced (all) the naysayers by making Tom Hardy's Bane one of the most memorable villains in the cinematic history.
3. BALANCING THE ACT OVER THE NARRATION THAT COVERS SO MANY GROUNDS
Clocking at 164 minutes (that's a whopping 2 hours and 44 minutes!), THE DARK KNIGHT RISES is certainly the longest duration ever seen for a comic-book movie. At the same time, it's easy to criticize that kind of length as a victim of being heavy-handed or overlong if Nolan fails to find a balancing act for juggling such a dense narration that covers everything from Bruce Wayne/Batman, Bane, Catwoman and other characters as well.
4. MORE MONEY SHOTS
Again, with such a length, we sure wants to see a lot more money shots in THE DARK KNIGHT RISES to get our money's worth. Judging by all the trailers and clips shown in the internet so far, the action are going to be absolutely epic and let's hope they are good enough to keep you glued to your seat.
5. MAKE THE BATTLE BETWEEN BATMAN AND BANE A MEMORABLE SCENE
If you notice all the trailers and clips shown in the internet so far, it's almost inevitable that glimpses of Batman seems have a tough time trying to outlast Bane one-on-one. And that alone, we certainly want to see a memorable, yet well-choreographed fight sequence filled with enough brutality and intensity altogether.
6. MAKE THE FEMALE CAST MEMORABLE ENOUGH
Let's face it... if you are an avid follower of Christopher Nolan's filmography since the beginning of his movie career from his 1998's FOLLOWING till 2010's INCEPTION, you will notice that his movie leans more towards on male-centric and doesn't particularly excels in female characters. Let's hope he can make both Anne Hathaway (who plays Selina Kyle/Catwoman) and Marion Cotillard (who plays Miranda Tate) into memorable female cast as worthy as their male counterparts.
